For more information go to the state's website: http://www.floridastudentfinancialaid.org/ or email: Osfa@fldoe.org. Below are the various types of assistance and information on a few agencies. The Office of the U.S. Department of Education has an informative web site at studentaid.ed.gov for more information.

Scholarships

Typically scholarships are awarded to a student based on merit, achievement, and/or attainment of academic requirements. Scholarships do not have to be repaid usually, unless there is a requirement set that has not been met by the student. In addition to an application, students may need to satisfy other requirements for the scholarship.

Florida Bright Futures

Florida Bright Futures is a Florida scholarship program available to high school students who meet academic requirements. Bright Futures pays a portion of a student’s tuition. Current information on Bright Futures scholarship requirements, eligibility, and etc., may be found at www.floridastudentfinancialaid.org.

Haney Scholarships

Scholarships in the General Scholarship fund (AGE students), Miscellaneous Scholarship fund (CTE students) and the Haney Financial Aid Fee fund are used to assist students in paying for tuition, fees, books, and supplies. Any current or prospective student may apply to these funds for assistance to start or continue a program based on the criteria of each fund. Applications are available in the Student Services offices and via email. The applications must be returned to the Student Services/Financial Aid offices.

All students, whether current or new, must meet the Adult Basic Skills requirements or be enrolled in remediation to be eligible for this scholarship. Students may apply for assistance as frequently as needed, but funds may not be awarded each time. Students who are awarded funding will be notified of the award or denial by phone or letter depending on time constraints. A complete list of guidelines is available in Financial Aid.
