Additional Information
Nursing is a healing profession for you and for those you serve. You’ll perform a broad range of duties in many diverse health care settings including caring for newborns, the aged, home-bound, or mentally ill. Under the supervision of a physician or a registered nurse, you’ll prepare patients for examination, administer medications, check patient’s vital signs, and sometimes perform routine laboratory tests.
Online applications will only be accepted twice per year. Usually in June for classes starting in August, and again in November for classes starting in January. (Exact dates and deadlines will be posted on Haney’s home page under “Application Dates”.) A link to the online application (at designated dates,) as well as forms necessary for the Application Packet are listed below. Applicants who submit a completed packet by the deadline date and who meet all requirements will be considered for admission. Space is limited. Please note, applicants that have applied in the past will need to complete a new online application and application packet (all components). We strongly encourage you to make copies of your packet prior to submission.
Integrated Education and Training (IET) is an educational model that combines adult education and literacy activities with workforce preparation and training for a specific occupation or occupational cluster. The goal of IET is to help adults gain the skills and credentials they need for in-demand careers, and to advance their education and careers.
Teas Testing
The TEAS is a requirement in order to submit your application. You are strongly encouraged to take the TEAS as early as possible. The Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) has proven to be a reliable admissions tool to predict future health science academic success. The TEAS exam was developed based upon the 9-12 grade Science, Reading, Math, and English Language Usage standards identified as import for students to possess upon entry into a health science program.
This is a computer-based test comprised of 170 questions divided into four (4) core areas: reading, math, science, and English. The total time allotted to complete the test is 209 minutes. In preparation for the TEAS, you may want to use the ATI TEAS study manual and practice tests available at atitesting.com (opens in new window).
You may take the TEAS up to three times per year but must wait a minimum of 14 days between tests.
Cost: $70 purchase your test voucher at Haney in Student Services (Building 1) or you may pay over the phone, (850) 767-5500, at least one day in advance of the testing.
Test Day:
TEAS scores are valid for one (1) year from their test date.
Sign Up for TEAS Test Dates – Test begins promptly at 8:15am. Late arrivals will not be allowed to test. Refunds will not be granted for late arrivals.
