Haney’s Success Academy offers a dynamic, no-cost tutoring program designed to empower Career Technical Education (CTE) students through personalized in-person and online support. We focus on building essential skills in mathematics, language, and reading, tailored to industry-specific career paths, while also enhancing employability, computer proficiency, financial literacy, and preparation for program completion assessments.
Our Mission
We are dedicated to equipping students with the language, math, and reading
foundations needed for success in industry-focused career training. Our goal is
to ensure students excel in basic skills knowledge requisite for program
completion while providing practical training in employability, computer
skills, and financial literacy to pave the way for a thriving future.
CASAS Goals Exams:
EVERY incoming CTE student
will take the CASAS Reading and Math exams at the beginning of the semester to
get a baseline score AT NO CHARGE. While required for every student, this score
will not impact program enrollment. CASAS scores can also be used to meet the
basic skills requirement for program completion. CASAS exams will be taken during class time
as scheduled by the instructor.
Success Academy Life Skills Instruction for
Every CTE student.
=
All Haney students enrolled in a career technical education
program will participate in Essential Education employability and life skills
programs that include Work Essentials, Computer Essentials, and Money
Essentials.
=
Students will use the first 15 minutes of class or the first 15
minutes after lunch to work on Essential Education unless otherwise scheduled
by the instructor. Students must use the assigned class time to work until they
have completed the entire program. The program is available 24/7 online, so
students may choose to work ahead or catch up away from school. If you exit the
program before completing a lesson, your progress will be saved automatically
until your next login. Students are allowed to retest on lessons, quizzes and
final assessments to improve scores.
=
Students will be given class time to complete the designated
work in Essential Education. Laptops or desktops are available in every
program, and one set of earbuds will be provided.
=
Instructors will provide grading information and deadlines for
completion if different from above. Success Academy instructors will provide
continuous progress and grading information to program instructors and will
check in to every class weekly during Life Skills time to assist or answer
questions. Students can reach out at any
time for additional help.
=
Students must complete EVERY lesson, unit quiz, and final
assessment. Do not skip lessons or take
only the quiz/final. Exception -
Students using Computer Essentials may use the locator test to skip material
they already know.
How Can We Help?
Program-Specific Instruction and
Remediation:
The
Success Academy offers skills-specific intervention using in-person or online
tutoring free of charge for all CTE students.
Students should always check with the program instructor first when
struggling, but if additional help is needed, contact the Success Academy. For
example, if a student is struggling with NCCER Construction Math, the Success
Academy instructors can provide additional resources such as one-on-one tutoring,
group lessons, or online programs. The goal of the Success Academy is to improve
skills in reading, language, and math relevant to the program, basic skills
requirements, and employability skills in the industry.

Integrated Education & Training
Haney’s Success Academy is intended to meet Florida Department of Education’s requirements for Integrated Education & Training. IET is designed to combine adult education with workforce training to help learners achieve both educational and career goals efficiently. It integrates basic skills instruction—such as literacy, numeracy, and English language proficiency—with vocational or technical training tailored to specific occupations. This dual approach allows students to improve their foundational skills while simultaneously gaining job-specific knowledge and credentials, preparing them for employment in high-demand industries. Haney’s Success Academy program aligns with Florida’s broader mission to enhance adult education and career pathways, emphasizing practical outcomes like job placement and economic self-sufficiency. This initiative reflects Florida’s commitment to building a skilled workforce to meet the state’s economic demands.
