All applicants for Career & Technical and Licensure programs who are NOT EXEMPT from basic skills by Florida Statutes, 1008.30 must pay and register for the basic skills test to be taken within six (6) weeks of enrollment date, when registering and paying for your desired program.

You are exempt from the basic skills requirement if you present evidence:

  • that you possess an Associate of Applied Science degree or higher

  • that college and career readiness for basic skills has been met:

PERT - Reading 106 Writing 103 Math 114

ACT - Reading 19 English 17 Math 19

SAT - Verbal 440 Math 440

  • that you have passed an approved state, national, or industry certification exam in their area of study

  • that you received the minimum score on the 2014 GED® Tests: Reasoning through Language Arts and Mathematics Reasoning within the last two years

  • that you entered 9th grade in a Florida public school in the 2003-2004 school year, or any year thereafter, and earned a Florida standard high school diploma

  • that you are serving as an active duty member of any branch of the United States Armed Services

All ABE/GED students are required to take the basic skills test prior to registering for classes.

Register for the test by presenting a valid government-issued picture ID, complete the testing registration form, and pay the testing fee of $25.00. Registration must be completed by the Friday prior to testing. 

Please arrive at least 15 minutes before testing time, and check-in at Student Services before proceeding to the Testing Center.
